Understanding Robotics through Practical Problem Solving
Over 12 weeks, students go from learning the fundamentals of robotics to understanding how real mechanical systems work. They’ll explore sensors, electronics, and machine components by taking apart robots, experimenting with hardware, and solving practical challenges. They'll also learn about mechanical design, electronic circuit design, 3D printing, and more! Through our project-based course and dedicated robotics kit, students gain practical experience in engineering, innovation, and troubleshooting.
What Makes This Different?
Building Future Engineers
01 / Tactile First
Learn From Scratch
Starting with what is electricity to why components are needed, how systems integrate, and how engineers troubleshoot failures.
02 / Systems Thinking
Hardware Exploration & Disassembly
Students take apart real robots and learn directly from physical components, motors, and sensors.
03 / Building & Innovation
STEM Projects & Certification
Practice troubleshooting, experimentation, and logic through hands-on engineering projects that turn ideas into results.

Give Your Child The Engineering Edge
Transform curiosity into real engineering skill before high school.
No. The program is designed as a structured introduction, so students do not need advanced robotics experience to participate. We provide them with everything, from class material to robotics kit.
Students learn how robotics works from the inside out: theory, parts, mechanics, electronics, systems, troubleshooting, and how engineers approach real problems. Coding is part of the ecosystem, but not the whole experience. We combine both to give them an engineering edge.
The 12-week program is $660 per student, billed at $55 per class. A robotics kit is required and sold separately for $149. The students only need to bring a laptop, we provide everything else - robots, tools, dedicated personal kits, etc.
Classes meet on Saturday or Sunday from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM. Each class is two hours.
Classes will be held in the SmartDots Office Workshop, where students will learn in a real robotics environment surrounded by 20+ autonomous robots used in technologies that are helping transform residential and commercial automation.
Rather than learning only from diagrams or simulations, students will be able to see robotics systems up close and learn in the same kind of practical environment where robotic products are tested, repaired, and sold. The workshop setting helps make the connection between classroom concepts and real-world robotics immediate and memorable. Location: 2601 E State Highway 121, Building 5 - 512, Lewisville, TX, 75056.
As a leading robotic-solutions company based in the DFW area, serving residential and commercial customers, our expert engineers work with autonomous systems that are installed, supported, tested, and maintained in practical environments.
These experts will be conducting the classes, and are connected to the robotics industry across the world. The program is designed around the same practical mindset SmartDots applies to robotics: understanding how components work, how systems interact, how to troubleshoot problems, and how to improve a solution through experimentation. Our training also emphasizes how good engineering and innovation can benefit the society.
This gives students an early opportunity to explore robotics through direct physical interaction while building the habits engineers use in the field: curiosity, careful observation, systems thinking, and persistence. No advanced robotics experience is required; students simply need an interest in understanding how things work.
